About the Course
In this one-day workshop, led by Eco Upcycler Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw, you will learn to transform discarded planks and pieces of reclaimed wood into stylish indoor signs, coat or key hangers.
We will start the day by preparing our planks and practising a number of painting and upcycling techniques, including texture building, distressing, stencilling, and decoupage. We will look at how to protect your pieces so they can be used outdoors or in slightly humid environment such as a bathroom or kitchen, without becoming damaged or worn.
When you feel confident with the upcycling techniques you’ve been shown and have an idea of what you’d like to use, we will start working on our prepared wood to create a beautiful piece to take home. Each sign or hanger will be different and unique depending on what design you choose! Light weight boards can be used as a sign with any text of your choice, and heavier boards can be fitted with hooks to be used as key holders, coat hangers, or kitchen utensil holders.
All tools, equipment and materials are provided and included in the cost.
A wide selection of paint and finishes, stencils and papers for decoupage will be provided, and you are welcome to bring any materials, paints, paper for decoupage or colourings you would like to use if you want your final piece to be coordinated with a specific room in your home.
The final piece will be unique and at least 50 % of the ingredients used will be recycled… a great way to create beauty while looking after our planet!
