About the Course
Come and join Roop (and Al) from RAMP in the Mid Devon Countryside at the newly established Devon Applied Arts Workshop. Set in rolling fields, outside Silverton, between Exeter and Tiverton, the space is well heated, has wheelchair access and a purpose-built studio workshop for the Applied Arts.
We are running a weekend comprehensive ceramics workshop focusing on slipware and decorative techniques for a maximum of eight students.
Roop & Al will introduce you to a range of core processes of making and decoration in clay. These will include hand building with molds, slabs, coils and pinch pots. The potter’s wheel will be available also, so you can try your hand at this.
This is the second part of the Raku course, in which we will be glazing and firing the work we made in the first Saturday class. If you were not able to attend, there will be some spare pots for you to decorate. Of course you will also be taught making skills, either throwing or handbuilding a required.
By the end of the classes you will have made and decorated at least 2 items which will be fired and available to pick up after the course has finished. The class is aimed at beginners & those who have already attended classes with us before, and all are welcome no matter what your experience in ceramics is.
The aim of the classes is to learn new skills in a relaxing, informal, well-equipped studio with friends or new people. Unleash some creative energy and get hands on with the clay.
