About the Course

Bring a breath of hand-crafted loveliness into your home!

Following the success of our festive Rag Wreath Workshop, we are delighted to now be offering this equally creative yet refreshingly different workshop - to make a bespoke cushion using the traditional folk craft of rag rugging.

Your day will begin with a brief history of the craft. Your experienced tutor will then guide you though the making process. Using a handmade Cornish tool called a bodger, and a fantastic array of fabrics, you will make your very own cushion. Your completed cushion could provide a newly decorated room with the perfect finishing touch or transform a forgotten space with an injection of freshness - the choice is yours!

This workshop is designed to be a fun and relaxed day. The workshop is perfect for beginners - you will be in safe hands! The workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm and will include a pause for lunch, which is provided.

All the materials and equipment you need to make your cushion will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear, but if you would like to use particular colours, you are welcome to bring additional materials with you. Woollen fabrics such as old jumpers and blankets are ideal. Most fabrics are suitable, just as long as they don't have a sheen that is likely to make them too slippery to work with.

The 'bodger' tool that will be used to make your cushion will be available to purchase on the day should you wish to continue to use your new found skills when you get home. Join us for a truly enjoyable day.

Places on this workshop are limited to 8.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
