About the Course
Pyrography course at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle.
This new one day course will see you learn the specific techniques and requirements needed to burn designs onto wood.
On this course you will learn the decorative art of pyrography which involves using a specialised electrically heated implement to burn a design freehand into a surface. You will work towards creating a 6" x 4" postcard style wooden greetings card (the perfect alternate Christmas card!) with a design on one side and a message on the other. During the course of the day you'll be given the opportunity to experiment with different layout effects, border designs, types of font and a variety of colouring mediums suitable for pyrography.
The course will run from 10:00 to 16:00.
This course is suitable for age 16 + and is aimed at those with some knowledge of the craft or who have already completed the introductory pyrography course, but they are designed in such a way as to also be suitable for those with little or no experience. Please wear comfortable casual clothes with closed toe shoes.
The Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle has been offering hands on experience and training since 2013. See our website to browse the wide range of taster days, short courses and demonstrations in craft, conservation and traditional building skills.
