Printmaking course by Thread and Press. A course running on alternate Saturdays* at Allerthorpe from 11am - 1pm. This course runs on alternate Saturdays starting in September (*with a 4 week gap over the half term holiday).
This course is a perfect introduction to printmaking. We will show you how to plan and design a relief print block, how to carve a piece of lino and print onto different surfaces. We will also show you how to create a reduction block print. As well as block printing, we will show you how to create a dry-point etching, working into a surface with an etching tool and printing with a press. We show you how to monoprint and collagraph print using various textures and surfaces. This course is a fantastic way to use print to create sophisticated fine art outcomes. We guide you through every step of the process, and your session is run by an experienced Art teacher.
This course is suitable for beginners or people with some prior experience of printing. We follow government guidance on social distancing and the use of face masks in public settings (subject to change at the time of course commencing). All materials are provided, although you have the option of also bringing your own chosen fabrics to work on. Parking provided.
Thread and Press were established with the mission to bring creative opportunities to all, including those in more rural environments. We gladly welcome learners of ALL abilities and circumstances. Older children aged 13 are welcome if accompanied by an adult (both would need to book onto the course). Parking available on site.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
