Primitive Pit Firing Ceramics with Pete Bodenham at Stiwdio 3

Two pit fired ceramic vessels
X

Description

A ceramics handbuild session and a demonstration how to do a Primitive Pit firing in your garden - You can make pots or objects out of clay very much like neolithic people did and fire them in a bonfire / pit-firing in your garden or open space. Today some cultures and artists still make pots using handbuilding methods and firing techniques that have been used for thousands of years. It's amazing what you can make and achieve with some guidance and practice. Pots fired in a bonfire don’t get to the high temperatures needed to turn clay into ceramic but the method outlined will make them hard, durable and characterful to hold dry objects or just for display.

You will handbuild two vessels in the classroom and be able to fire them confidently at home - confidently and without drama! Pete will show you how and you will take home a printed set of instructions.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
