About the Course

You Choose a day and time that suits YOU

The Introductory Course is for those who have never done pottery before or maybe not since they were at school.

All the basic making methods in one session.

So we start with a simple Pinch Pot made from a ball of clay, we then roll the clay into coils and add the coils to the pinch pot making a bowl.

We then roll out the clay into slabs and make a simple box form, this teaches you how to get even thicknesses of clay and how to join slabs of clay together using the score and slip method.

I then demonstrate how to Throw a Pot on the Potters Wheel, which I explain is the mechanical way of making the same bowl shape as your pinch pot, you can then have a go at throwing on the potters wheel while I guide you through the process.

Once you have done your Introductory Course you are welcome to join one of the weekly Pottery Classes classes

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

I had an excellent time with Joan who tailored my time to my needs. I was also given some extra time in the afternoon to practice. Fantastic value for money. Thanks again. Jill
