We will cover the basic techniques of pottery - pinching, coiling, slabbing, use of hump and press moulds. We will explore texture, pattern and colour and students will be able to take home their pots. The pottery studio is well equipped with all the tools and equipment needed. Students should wear old clothes, although aprons will be provided.

The tutor, Fiona Scanlan, has been making pottery for over 20 years and is qualified to teach in further and adult education. She is a member of the Midlands Potters Association and her work has featured in exhibitions throughout the Midlands. Over the last few years she has very much enjoyed showing people how to make pots and then seeing their creativity and talent emerge.

What's included in the price?

There is a charge for materials used in the final products. This is 30p per 100g and includes clay, slip, glazes and 2 firings. Sessions run from 10.30 to 12.30. The best place to park is in Edwards Rd opposite. The bus no 35 drops you off just by the pottery. We are just at the back of the Ort Cafe.
