About the Course

We have several pottery classes for adults, and family classes for children to come along to with or without their parents. These classes are designed to cater for all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced students.

Forgan boasts three wonderful pottery tutors: Pat Peters, Heather Gilbert and Irene Coulthard
Along the way there will be an additional minimal firing cost, which is dependent on the size of your work. Clay can be purchased from the Centre or you can practice with recycling clay.

*For budding young potters we also run a ceramic school for kids during the holidays.

Adult classes: with Pat Peters

Pat has been teaching for many years at both Waid Academy and Forgan Arts Centre. Pat is a highly qualified and experienced potter with a wealth of knowledge in both wheel work and hand building. Pat will teach you everything you need to know from creating a piece, to adding texture and pattern or perfecting the finish of your ceramics.
Choose from 3 class options:

Mondays I 2pm - 4pm or 7-9pm

or Fridays I 1.30pm – 3.30pm

About Forgan Arts Centre
Forgan Arts Centre is rooted in the community and strives to offer educational and cultural opportunities to people of all ages and abilities, in an environment that enriches well-being. Established in 1978, the Centre offers a wide variety of classes and events to the residents of Newport-On-Tay and surrounding towns and villages.

You don’t have to become a member to attend our classes, however it dramatically reduces the cost of your course and any other classes throughout the year, as well as helping to support the Centre. If you would like to join us, Membership costs £30 for the year and can be purchased at the Centre or under the members tab on our website.
