Have always wanted to have a go at pottery,so my daughter and I attended and what a great time we had. Yoka is an excellent teacher, her love of her craft shines through and she explains everything clearly and we are soon at the wheel shaping and throwing an actual pot.
The sense of achievement we felt when we actually produced a decent bowl was the spur to make a better one, and another. In total I produced 3 bowls and a mug, not bad for a complete beginner.
Throughout the afternoon Yoka was a wonderful host, the studio is set in beautiful countryside and the workshop is inspiring, with examples of her amazing creations all around.
I would highly recommend this taster course, and hope to return soon to throw another pot.
I booked this course as a surprise for my sister and it did not disappoint!! Both myself and my sister were complete beginners but Yoka explained everything clearly and was so welcoming and friendly we soon got the hang of it. Would highly recommend this course- Its a great day out! We are both looking to return to do another course with Yoka! You will not be disappointed!
Had the most wonderful experience on this course and I think I'm hooked on potting .Yoka is extremely knowledgeable friendly and helpful .All in a lovely peaceful setting .Do this course its fabulous !
Myself and a friend attended the half day course at Siramik and had a brilliant time. Yoka is a dedicated, informative and enthusiastic teacher of her profession and I learnt a lot in the 4 hours we were there. Having fiddled around at slab and coil pottery years ago (for a couple of years), I was never able to master the wheel and so gave up. With Yoka I found I was able to 'throw' a pot and in fact has the opportunity to 'throw' 6 in the 4 hours. Not brilliant pots but to me, it was a challenge that I finally managed to conquer and went home very chuffed with myself. Highly recommended course, as in Yoka's hands, you can't fail. Thank you Yoka. Am hoping to return soon.
I took the half day course as a complete beginner with Yoka and it was fabulous.
The setting is in a converted barn on their working farm in a beautiful location. Yoka is warm and welcoming and gave us an excellent potted (excusing the pun) history of the different clays, glazes and finishes. We were then let loose creating our first pots under her guidance using the wheel. We completed four pots each learning how to shape the clay and were given the option to glaze them with colours. Coffee and bicccies and a chance to look at Yokas beautiful ceramics on display completed a lovely morning. My pots were posted 6 weeks later as I was unable to collect them and have been much admired! Cannot recommend this course and Siramik highly enough. Thanks Yoka.
