Course Start DatesSaturday 4th July 2020
About the Course
This Fashion Styling course will help understand how to select a wardrobe style and image to suit a particular body shape and life style. Suitable for anyone with an interest in one-to-one styling and personal shopping for private clients.
Focusing exclusively on womenswear, you will assess what it means to have a personal style by looking at major designers, style icons and street style, (illustrating how dressing differs around the world). Using basic principles of styling, you will learn how to develop a personal style, create a new look, and select the right clothes and accessories for different body shapes (by identifying the best styles, cuts, colours, fabrics, and patterns). The course will also cover various techniques to make the most of your wardrobe including eliminating out of date pieces, co-ordinating outfits, and adding accessories or key fashion pieces to dress-up or dress-down outfits. Please note that this is not a colour consultation course, however during the course you will learn how to maximise the effect of colour in clothing, and select the right colour combinations for your wardrobe.
By the end of the course you will be able to
• Recognise what styles and cut of garments best suit your body
• Understand the basic rules of adding colour to your wardrobe
• Develop a list of essential items to wear for own body shape
• Be able to co-ordinate a number of outfits with current and newly added items in your wardrobe
• Be able to use accessories or key fashion pieces to 'dress up' or 'dress down' an outfit
