Description

Decorating the tree at Christmas is a magical time for everyone, re-discovering those beloved baubles filled with memories of Christmases past. Why not come along and join us for a wonderfully relaxing and mindful evening of creativity with talented local artist Dawn Thornhill, and learn how to create your own paper cut bauble to hang on your tree, creating heirlooms for the future. In this 2 hour workshop, you will be taught the basics of paper cutting, including how to use a scalpel safely and the principles behind making a bauble. Using Dawn’s project ideas and templates or your own designs, you can then create your own 3D festive glass bauble. All materials are included to make your glass bauble, together with use of tools. We’ll also be serving hot drinks, mulled wine and home made mince pies. No previous experience of drawing or paper cutting is needed at all, but the class is not suitable for under 18s due to the sharp scalpels used. We’ll also be working in miniature with scalpels and scissors, so a reasonable level of dexterity is required. Dawn is a Surrey-based artist who creates original, one-off papercut-lightboxes. She has been nominated for Surrey Artist of the Year in both 2021 and 2022 and took part in Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas in December 2022. She supports several wildlife charities through the sale of her pieces and is passionate about African wildlife conservation. “Super fun course. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere was a joy to be in , cake and coffee were excellent and the course teaching was clear and accessible. Would certainly recommend.” “This is such fun! And really achievable – a wonderful birthday treat.”
