About the Course

Embark on a creative journey and discover different papercraft techniques whilst building your confidence and knowledge.

This course runs over 10 sessions and each session is 3 hours long.
All materials and light refreshments are included.
Each attendee will receive a free card making kit worth £20.
Dates: 02/08, 09/08, 16/08, 23/08, 30/08, 06/09, 13/09, 20/09, 27/09 and 04/10.
Time: 10 am to 1 pm or 6 pm to 9 pm

Week 1 – Introduction to Card Making
Basic supplies, different cardstocks and tools that make your life easy, stamping techniques.
By the end of the session, you will be able to understand the different types of cardstock, inks and stamping techniques.

Week 2 – Heat Embossing
Basic supplies & tools, heat embossing on different surfaces (card, vellum, acetate), emboss resist technique.
By the end of the session, you will be able to use heat tool with confidence and you will be able to use heat embossing for your projects.

Week 3 – Ink blending & basic colouring
Basic supplies & tools, blending distress inks and distress oxide inks, colouring with alcohol markers, watercolour pens and brushes and how to make your own ink pad with baby wipes
By the end of the session, you will be able to recognise different inks and colouring tools and be able to understand their specific use.

Week 4 – Stencils & Embossing pastes
Basic supplies & tools, how to make your own stencil paste, different types of stencils
By the end of the session, you will be able to make your own stencil paste from scratch and use different stencils with a wide range of pastes and waxes.

Week 5 – Die cutting
Basic supplies & tools, manual vs. electric machines, scan & cut machine, thinlits vs. Bigz dies
By the end of the session, you will be able to recognise the different types of die cutting machines and understand the basics of how they work. You will also understand the difference between thin dies and Bigz dies and how to use them.

Week 6 – Dynamic and interactive cards
Basic supplies & tools, discover a wide range of dynamic & interactive cards such as shaker cards, reveal wheel cards, cards with hidden messages, pop up cards, double slider cards.
By the end of the session, you will be able to construct cards with various mechanisms that will add a special element to your own projects.

Week 7 – 3D Papercraft
Basic supplies & tools, learn how to make gift boxes, mini handbags, storage boxes, wedding favours and many more
By the end of the session, you will be able to use score boards, punch boards and die cutting machine to build different 3D projects.

Week 8 – Quilling
Basic supplies & tools, learn basic shapes and how to make a home décor piece in a shadow box
By the end of the session, you will be able to recognise different basic shapes and how to arrange them together to create an image. You will make one large project within a shadow box.

Week 9 – Scrapbooking & Mixed Media
Basic supplies & tools, how to choose the layout, use of different materials and tools to create a composition.
By the end of the session, you will be able to design and create a layout around your chosen photograph.

Week 10 – Hot Foiling
Basic supplies & tools, different machines on the market, how to use the hot foiling machine and die cutting machine.
By the end of the session, you will be able to master the basics of hot foiling and how to crate professional looking projects and personalised gifts.

At the end of session 10, you will receive your free card making kit. There will also be a quiz to test what you have learned, and the best result will be rewarded with a special prize!
