There are many fascinating pop-up books out there with things that move, slide and rotate – in this workshop, you can learn how to make your own! You can either use your own drawings, photocopies or magazine cutouts, or you can work with different colour papers, or try even just white paper – it looks very subtle but you can create beautiful light and shadow effects.
You will learn how to use tools like bone folders, spring dividers and scalpel knives to cut, measure, score and fold paper correctly. The first two days we will concentrate on different techniques and mechanisms for creating pop-ups and you will make a number of pop-up cards which can feature abstract shapes or more figurative designs. On the third day we will assemble your cards into a book which you can take home and use as a reference for future projects.
