Painting the Autumn Landscapes with Oils and Pastels - weekend art residential

About the Course
Spend two days developing your pastel and painting skills at Margam Discovery Centre.
The aim of the course is to develop a palette, and an approach, that captures the atmosphere of the autumnal day. This will be expressed by understanding the use of colour in a naturalistic way but also by an enhanced colour vision. To achieve this the media used will, on the whole, be oil pastels oil bars and oil paints - whatever materials you have would be of benefit but a selection of pastels oil or pigment would be a good starting point. The course is not prescriptive so if your preferred media includes other methods that is also good. The course will focus on landscape work in-situ that is then 'worked up' in the studio. It is hoped that the weather will lend itself to dramatic skies but we will respond to whatever is presented. It would be useful to have a camera but there will be one available (to share) if you don't have such a thing. So the fundamental goal of the course is to experience nature in the day - then develop an aesthetic response in the studio.
