About the Course

During this live online interactive workshop, you will work towards creating a Scarab Pendant using fine silver with a statement stone setting. You will be given the option to use a template designed by Tracey or you can customise your own interpretation of the design.

What you will need

Once you have purchased the class, you will be sent a pdf document with full details from getting prepared and setting up your workspace through to construction, creating the bezel setting, firing, polishing and setting your stone.
In addition to your class fee you will need to purchase and prepare additional tools and materials in order to successfully complete the workshop. A full list will be sent to you after we receive your registration fee but the list below will give you an indication of what is required.

- 50g Silver Clay. You may not need it all but will need the quantity to roll out in the first instance. The amount of clay you will use will be determined by the size and scale of your piece. Select the brand of your choice but you need to be familiar with its handling and firing schedule.
- Oval cabochon of your choice - the size of your cabochon determines the size of your finished piece
- 5mm wide fine bezel wire
- Polymer clay
- Art Clay Silver Paste
- Silver solder with flux or solder paster. Solder paste is the easiest option

- Main work surface (ceramic tile)
- Roller
- Set of spacer bars
- Needle tool
- Fine paint brush
- Rubber tip tool
- Tweezers
- Tube cutters
- Pinking shears (optional)
- Cling film
- Wet wipes
- Kitchen roll
- Scissors - small
- Badger balm
- Tissue blade
- Tracing paper

- Old kitchen sponge
- Bezel pusher
- Drying Options
- Cup warmer
- Oven
- Dehydrator

Firing Options
- Gas hob
- Kiln - Due to the size of this piece, kiln firing will be the best option
- Blow torch

Polishing Options
- Brass wire brush
- Radial discs and Dremel
- Tumble polisher
- Polishing wheel
- Soft cloth and polish
