About the Course
On this day workshop you will learn how to design, cut and shape various tiles and recyclable tesserae and make up to 3 jewellery pendants. Whilst the glue is drying we will have a little lunch break. We will then take a short walk by the river to the Barrowford Heritage Centre to visit the fascinating Pendle Witch museum, included in the price.
When we return we will grout the pieces and choose either a ribbon or ball chain to hang them on, unique gift bags are included for your unique pendants.
Then they will just need a polish at home the day after. These are ideal personal gifts or for youself!
These courses run on demand so please contact me for future dates, or to arrange a personal date for you if there are 2 or more people.
A fun enjoyable workshop at the historic Higherford Mill in Barrowford. An old water powered weaving mill, that is now full of creatives business units. Can be a bit chilly so no t,shirts although it is heated.
A wide range of materials and tesserae is provided to feed your creative juices, recycled materials are also available such as china, beads, shells, old jewellery as well as more conventional tessarae such as glass and ceramic. If you have any tiny bits or pieces at home that you would like to incorporate into the pendant please bring them along with you.
Along the way we will discuss various mosaic techniques and possible future projects. Also covering the essential safety rules and best practice. Books will be on hand to help with the design process and a selection of completed mosaic pieces will be on show to see what further possibilities are available using this exciting medium.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as you will be offered as much support as is needed, however a certain amount of dexterity it needed as the pieces are quite small that we work with. You will be helped encouraged to explore your own creative process.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

A visit to the Pendle Witch museum at the Heritage Centre, Barrowford.
I attended the Mosaics course in Higherford Mill yesterday. Catherine was a very good tutor and even though I struggled at the start (don’t let that put you off!), Catherine was very helpful & I managed to produce a lovely heart. I haven’t had time yet to grout my heart, but am looking forward to seeing the finished article very soon. I was a total beginner and would recommend this course to everyone. Thoroughly enjoyable day.
