About the Course

9th September 2018 Garden trug course - FULLY BOOKED
Our most popular course, this beautiful garden trug will introduce you to weaving frame baskets. You will be shown how to create a frame, to add ribs to create the shape of the basket and add the weaving, designing your own pattern.

23rd September 2018 Christmas crafts course
This course will include different techniques of willow weaving and basket making. We will make a Christmas angel, a reindeer and a wreath decorated with pine cones, holly, cinnamon and ribbon.

7th October 2018 Reindeer sculpture course
This course will teach you how to create the structure of a willow sculpture. You will then build up the willow to create a willow reindeer. Perfect to display outside your home over the festive season.

21st October 2018 Zarzo basket course
The zarzo basket is a Spanish basket which had been developed from a round platter into a rectangular basket that could be used as a handbag.

28th October 2018 Christmas crafts course
This course will include different techniques of willow weaving and basket making. We will make a Christmas tree, a Christmas star and a wreath decorated with pine cones, holly, cinnamon and ribbon.

11th November 2018 Reindeer sculpture course
This course will teach you how to create the structure of a willow sculpture. You will then build up the willow to create a willow reindeer. Perfect to display outside your home over the festive season.

16th December 2018 Reindeer sculpture course
This course will teach you how to create the structure of a willow sculpture. You will then build up the willow to create a willow reindeer. Perfect to display outside your home over the festive season.

Our willow courses include different techniques of willow weaving and basket making. You will have a wonderful day in a beautiful setting learning an ancient craft.

Sarah Hatton, the course tutor, has been willow weaving since 2008. She has been involved in many large scale projects, most recently producing 70 gift baskets for the World Leaders attending the NATO Summit in Newport. Sarah was awarded the Craft Showcase Award 2015 at Made by Hand, Cardiff. She grows her own willow in Caerphilly which gives her a yearlong sustainable source of willow.
