About the Course
Try the beautiful craft of stained glass on one of these popular one day classes. Colourful, inspiring, and fascinating, the courses are aimed at beginner to intermediate level and are student led, that is you chose what you would like to make rather than being given a limited range of choices. This is the list of ongoing classes running at The Welsh Mill Hub, Park Hill Drive, Frome.
To book please click on the "contact course provider" box. Numbers are limited.
Stained Glass is an amazing craft, colourful, decorative and adaptable to many different forms. This course is student led, encouraging you to pursue the area of your interest. The course includes both "Tiffany" copper foiling and Leaded styles. There is also the provision on some dates for doing kiln fired glass painting, silver staining and enamelling. You can create panels, lamps or candle holders, clocks, mirrors, hanging pieces or set glass into an oak display stand. Bring your own ideas! You can contact to discuss by email the practicality of attempting a particular piece before the class.
If you are buying as a present for a loved one or friend then get in touch to discuss the details. You will be sent an e-voucher with your personalised message to print and put inside a birthday card. The recipient can then choose the date of their choice.
There are tea making facilities and toilets although you will need to bring your own packed lunch. Numbers are limited to 7 at the maximum so book ahead to ensure that you are able to get on the course. Children over the age of 9-16yrs can attend with an adult and are half price (£38). Due to the care needed when handling lead (particularly for children) I have specific arrangements and procedures in place to ensure full safety at all times.

This stained glass making day was bought for me as a present. It exceeded all my expectations and I had the most brilliant day. Matt is an excellent teacher so that processes which might at first seem daunting we were all able to take in our stride. All on my course were able to produce stained glass pieces which were beyond our hopes and expectations and there was a huge sense of achievement at being creative in a new way. Those who dropped out of the course at the last minute don't know what they were missing!
Thank you, Matt, for a totally fantastic day.

Absolutely loved doing the course with Matt yesterday. Matt was great and explained techniques and offered loads of encouragement.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a go. Class size was just right and the entire day was very inspiring! My piece is already hanging in my window!

I had a most enjoyable day on this course. Matt was a great teacher and has a volume of knowledge which he passes on to his pupils, giving lots of advice and tips along the way. It has inspired me to want to do more and I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone who would like to try Stained Glass, you’ll have a great day for sure.

Absolutely loved the course. An excellent introduction in to the world of Stained Glass.
Matthew is a great and enthusiastic teacher. Having already been on a glass fusion course last year, I feel that I picked up so much more from my day with Matthew. In particular, thanks to some great tips I am now so much more confident and accurate at cutting glass.
I left the day with a lovey piece and I am now truly hooked. I can't wait for another day of stained glass and I'll be booking my wife on to the next course. I recommend this course for anybody with an interest in glass.
Thank you Matthew

Did this excellent course yesterday and couldn't wait to get started at home!! Matt is excellent as a teacher as he is very patient and gives time to each person in the class ensuring everyone benefits from his endless knowledge. He had lots of tips and tricks to pass on which was great especially ideas on keeping the cost of things under control as my reason for doing the course was to make things to sell for charity so cost effectiveness was very important.
Would recommend this course to anyone wanting to have a go at Stained Glass but be warned it is addictive and you will want to do more.
