About the Course

This exciting new one day bronze casting course is designed for a group of friends, family or work colleagues who would like to book in a group of up to 6 people. You will learn the basics of bronze casting and make a small hand made bronze sculpture or practical object (belt buckle, door knocker, jewellery, etc) to take home on the day. A perfect way to spend time together doing something creative and a little bit different.

All the materials and equipment you need will be provided to enable you to make a small sculpture or object and to cast this in bronze to take away on the day.

The course will be a fascinating and enjoyable experience, there's no pressure and there's plenty of help on hand.

To book, or have a chat about arrangements, please just contact us. We can arrange a date for the course to suit you.

*The course is probably not suitable for children under 14, as a high level of adult supervision would be required.

The Tutor - Mark Halliday is an experienced artist and teacher and studied in the Foundry at the Royal College of Art and has been teaching bronze casting regularly each month at our foundry for many years. He taught at Cardiff School of Art & Design for nine years and, prior to that, at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. Mark was a founder of New British Art, which has its base in Carmarthenshire. New British Art is a not for profit artists' organisation that works to create new artworks, opportunities for recent graduates and provides learning opportunities at its studios in Wales and external venues by negotiation.

The Venue - Cilyrynys is a former dairy farm in a rural valley location just a few minutes' drive from the main A48 and the M4, near the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. The farm has a range of spacious outbuildings that accommodate artists' studios and workshop areas for the course.

If you want to extend your stay, the area is a great place to explore with castles, beautiful rivers, fabulous beaches and the Brecon Beacons all within an hour's drive. There are fantastic walks and mountain biking routes at Brechfa Forest, and several renowned public gardens nearby.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
