Foxes' Retreat offers an escape from your usual routine. The change of focus will allow you to tap into your creativity, whilst we provide experiences and activities to enhance your creative writing skills, giving you a space to begin or develop your own project. This is a 12 week course, running for two hours per week, 7pm to 9pm, starting 11th October 2022 We will be starting from scratch, and using exercises to build and support the skills needed to undertake writing a novel. This course is suitable for those who have not written since school, as well as those who are on a writing journey already. Small group (6 places available per group) with lots of supportive discussion and ideas to develop your writing. You will need to bring a notebook and a pen/pencil. What's included in the price?

Small group live teaching of exercises to develop characters and plot to sustain your writing through a novel length piece. whether that be creative non-fiction, memoir, autobiography, biography... it is all the telling of a story. I have a range of writers, from professional poets and storytellers, to first time writers, and I am used to working with exercises that will stretch the thinking patterns of us all.

What you will need

A notebook, a stable internet connection and a quiet space to work in without distraction for the two hours per week of your course, as well as at other times to develop your writing, in line with your own project ambitions.

Here at Foxes' Retreat we offer a relaxing and informal experience, welcoming you into our home to share our passion for writing and a love of the natural world around us. Having worked in formal education for many years, I am now offer both writing and therapy work in groups and individually. I have led workshops in varied locations in both Europe and South Africa, and now offer these from my home in the beautiful Peak District, alongside courses through ZOOM (live, not pre-recorded).
