About the Course
Get away to Pembrokeshire in early summer, when the wild flowers are at their best. Try one of our 5-day inspiring Creative & Craft holidays get hands-on making, creating and learning whilst being taught by professional artists and artisans, whilist staying in one of our luxury fully equipped tents
David Is an organic dairy farmer and works and lives in the Teifi Valley, were his family has farmed Penyrallt Home Farm since the 1960s. David has always loved wood, planting hundreds of trees & making much of his own furniture at home from trees grown & processed on site.
Suzi Park is the co-founder of Make in Wales, which provides high end craft courses in West Wales. Suzi is an entrepreneur who has worked in the textile & fashion industry for many years & as a lecturer for over 10 years. Suzi is passionate about offering specialised craft courses, which she creates in partnership with local designers & artisans
What to expect from the course
This course is a unique collaboration with Top of the Woods & Make it In Wales, who produce high-end craft courses in West Wales.
* Make & take home your own welsh stool
* Learn the art of wood craft using traditional hand tools to create a unique handmade piece of furniture for your home, working with wood coppiced from David' farm
* Learn traditional upholstering techniques, using fabric made from the local welsh mill
* Have plenty of time to enjoy beautiful Pembrokeshire as part of your glamping holiday
Craft Course Detail
Suitable for beginners. Maybe you enjoyed making things in woodwork at school but haven't done it for many years ! Give it a try & bring home a beautiful handmade welsh stool by your own crafty fingers!
Max 12 places.
Sunday - Glamping check-in from 2pm
Monday - Introduction to David Robinson woodsman & diary farmer. He will talk about wood farming and traditional hedgerow coppicing. David will demonstrate how to make the your welsh stool. You will then be given a practical session on using hand tools correctly, such as plane-ing, cutting etc. Discuss the plans for your stool
Tuesday & Wednesday - You will make your stool, the legs and tops and assemble it
Thursday & Friday - Introduction to Suzi Park, textile designer & Sewing teacher. Finish the stool by waxing & varnishing, select your fabric & learn the techniques to upholster the traditional way, i.e with tacks not staples.
Friday check out or stay on for the weekend!

Material & Tools
All materials required to make your welsh wool stool. Textiles sourced from Melin Teifi Mill & the woods coppiced from Davids farm.
All tools required for the course will be provided
The menu will include hot breakfasts and lunches, inspired by international cuisines and changing throughout the week. Jon cooks all his food from fresh & with quality ingredients.
Meals will be served communally in the Banquet Barn, unless you are on location when you will be provided with a food pack to take with you
Hot & cold drinks will be available during your course, including quality tea\coffee
