Needle felting Workshops at my Studio

About the Course
A fun and instructive day, which includes tea and cake, and a light lunch.
Here is a lovely opportunity to spend a relaxing day learning how to needle felt and create your own 3D creature, using native, natural wool.
These little sculptures will be made entirely from wool, with a core wool base and some wire to strengthen the limbs. They are shaped, sculpted and formed using specialist needles that have a row of tiny barbs that fuse the fibres together.
Wet felting workshops are also available; these will involve making landscapes, vessels or bags/slippers - we will use natural olive oil soap, and lovely natural wool.
I will teach you about traditional and modern techniques of felt-making, where your wool is from, and the stories behind our fleece.
As a qualified and experienced tutor and artist, I can help guide you through the process and techniques, ensuring that you take home your very own handmade sculpture or landscape.
With tuition, encouragement and some giggles along the way, you will be able to take home your complete creation!
NB: these courses can be based at my studio, or a venue I book, or one you suggest, including your home.
My most regular venues are: The Wool Croft, Abergavenny; Felin Fach Griffin, Brecon; The Bakers' Table, Talgarth; Denmark Farm Conservation Centre, Lampeter.
Please contact me for specific details.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All the wool and materials you need are included, plus group and 1-2-1 tuition. I will also supply books for you to browse and be inspired by; please do bring photos of the animal you wish to make if you have some.
I will provide a light lunch (you are welcome to provide your own if you prefer) and a steady supply of tea, coffee, juice and cake throughout the day.
There will be kits available to purchase at the end if you wish to continue needle felting after the workshop! These will be available at a discounted price for those booking workshops.
A completely fantastic day spent learning a totally new skill. Emma was very welcoming and her instruction was at the perfect pace for us all to follow and we all created creatures to be proud of. As a complete novice I came away with the confidence to try my new found hobby on my own. I will look forward to the next course with Emma, her enthusiasm and encouragement make her the perfect tutor.

I have been on a few of Emma's courses, with another booked! She is an excellent tutor, very knowledgable and informative, whilst at the same time making you feel comfortable in having a go! You leave with enough know how to continue this very therapeutic craft at home! I love it, and I love meeting all the other participants, they're good friends now!!

I've attended three Ffolkyffelt courses - after the first I was hooked! I arrived as a complete novice and left having learnt a new skill and having created something that I was quietly very proud of! The instruction is clear and encouraging and Emma is on hand and quick to help with anything you find tricky. I really enjoyed the supportive nature of the rest of the group - creating in a group environment is always so very satisfying. I won't be stopping at just three courses!

Having been on a number of Emma's courses I would have no hesitation in recommending this and any of her other courses. They are fun, inspirational and will get you hooked in no time. Emma's general relaxed approach means there is time for everyone to learn at their own pace and never once have I seen anyone not able to produce something to be proud of. Probably one of the best ways to spend a day I know!

I've been lucky enough to do a few felting workshops with Emma and her skill as a tutor as well as a creator of lovely things really sets her apart. You really do learn the techniques you need to go away and get all creative - and take away creations (and creatures) which are recognisable which is no mean feat in my case. But a word of warning - her workshops are addictive!
