We look forward to welcoming you to our newly renovated Barn in South Lakes.
During the day you will learn how to make a gorgeous little needle felted dog or cat of any breed or type, bursting with character, and using just a felting needle and beautiful natural wool fibres. Choose the wools that match your own pet’s colours and textures, be it curls, big hairy ears, or a cute pink nose! You will learn how to manipulate and needle felt all the shapes, to sculpt and bring your dog or cat to life. Blend colours, create textures and features to create the unique character of your pet. Finish by adding ears, glass eyes and a nose.
Bring along a few photographs of your pet if you would like to make a little replica. Printed photographs are best if possible, or some on a laptop or tablet. Or create your own fantasy or cartoon style dog or cat. It is helpful if you can email a photograph of your chosen animal before the workshop so that the correct types and colours of wool are supplied on the day.
Josephine Gornall is a fibre and mixed media artist and tutor. She has managed and run workshops and courses in many diverse participatory arts and celebratory projects using a variety of media for over twenty years. She now specialises in working with fibres and fabrics using wet and dry felting techniques.
Hare Hill Barn is big enough for 6 people to remain at a 2m distance at their own table, although if you are arriving with a friend you may sit together. Sanitizer will be available at each station, and at key points in the building. We ask you to bring a mask and to follow instructions regarding safeguarding. Your refreshments and lunch will be served at your table to avoid unnecessary contact with other members of the group.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials and equipment are supplied.
Refreshments including home cooked cakes will be provided throughout the day, and lunch cooked in our farmhouse kitchen will give you the opportunity to discuss your projects as they progress!
We do not offer accommodation but there are several B&Bs locally, or The Heft in High Newton (just 1.5 miles away). Alternatively we are within just a few miles of Cartmel (home to Sticky Toffee Pudding), Grange over Sands or Windermere where there are a wide variety of places to stay. Why don't you make a holiday of your trip to Hare Hill Barn?
