About the Course
A fun needle felting workshop suitable for beginners, we will make a small felt picture suitable to be framed.
You will learn basic skills using merino wool tops and optional finishing with embriodery stitches. Working with a felt background piece you will needle felt your wool onto it to gradually create and build up a landscape picture of your choice.
I will guide you through the process, showing you how to use the tools and materials safely and passing on hints and tips about the design journey.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and your design can be as simple or complicated as you desire.
Higherford Mill in Barrowford is the venue for the workshop, built in 1824 as a weaving and spinning waterpowered mill. Once full of the sound of machinery, now it is a little quieter and houses a collection of varied creatives.
Please get in touch to find out about the next workshop. If there are at least a couple of you I can arrange a date to suit you.

As someone who has never tried needle felting before, I was amazed that by the end of the day I had produced a landscape picture I felt very proud of! Catherine is a lovely person, great teacher and happy to give you as much (or as little) support as you require. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable day and I would thoroughly recommend.

I have just spent a lovely day needle felting with Catherine. Being a complete novice at this craft I was very surprised that I could go home with a wonderful picture. Catherine is such a pleasant and helpful teacher calm and patient, the time passed so quickly. I will certainly be framing my art work and showing to my friends.

I am very to new needle felting and needed some guidance on technique and types of wool. Catherine was very patient and understanding and the tuition was excellent.
Catherine was encouraging and really believed that I could create the picture that I wanted. WIth her help and support I have created a lovely picture which I will (hopefully) frame and display.
I would recommend a workshop with Catherine and Arts A Flutter if you want to have a go at needle felting, or indeed any of the other craft courses which are offered.

As a complete novice to needle felting I wasn't sure what to expect - but with Catherine's wonderful explanations, demonstrations and guidance throughout the day I was able to produce a landscape picture that I am very proud of. Her enthusiasm has given me the motivation to continue with this craft and develop my skills further. She is an excellent teacher, with great sensitivity - she knows when to offer help and when to leave us to develop our own imagination and creativity. hank you for a lovely day!
