About the Course
This great new workshop is all about capturing realistic images of nature using wool fibres and the wonderful craft of needle felt.
Before you worry that you’re not good at drawing or painting let me reassure you that ‘painting with wool fibres’ is much simpler than using oils and watercolours, but the results are just as striking and impressive.
Most people can’t believe how much detail and realism you can create using this technique. You’ll be amazed at how well you do even if you’ve never felted before or think you’re not artistic.
What to bring?
You’ll work from an image of your choice and I’ll show you how to make a perfect replica in needle felt. With a huge variety of colours to choose from you’ll be able to capture your image as true to life as possible down to the very last detail. I’ll be here to guide you step by step.
You’ll need to bring a print out of the image you’d like to copy or just bring the image on your phone if you are happy to draw it free hand. If you don’t have a printer I can print it for you and can help you with your drawing too.
All is equipment's included, just bring your ideas and enthusiasm and by the end of the day you’ll frame your masterpiece in an 6” wooden embroidery hoop to take home and hang pride of place.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Join me in the picturesque village of Hatton where I'll be waiting to welcome you to a delightful day learning how to needle felt in the heart of rural Warwickshire.
Workshops are held in a pretty all purpose craft studio nestled in a cottage garden and equipped with all the facilities you will need. It's a light and calming craft space where you can comfortably enjoy the whole day, and is a haven for you to learn in beautiful surroundings and friendly company.
Small group numbers ensure that you'll receive close guidance and personal instruction throughout the day so that you leave with the skills and confidence to continue your craft at home.
It’s a lovely way to spend the day, but don’t take my word for it, read what people have to say about workshops they have attended in my review section towards the bottom of this page.
On arrival you'll be greeted a selection of morning teas or freshly ground coffee before we get started. I provide cordials and soft drinks throughout the day with yummy snacks and fruit for if you're peckish.
You'll need to bring a packed lunch with you, which you can eat in the studio - or if it's a nice day we'll take it into the garden to eat at a picnic table. It's such a lovely spot in the summer!
Near Warwick, the village of Hatton is easily accessible with good main road links to the A46 and within easy distance of the M40, M1 and M6 There is also plenty of private parking. Alternatively the cottage is only a mile from Warwick Parkway and I can arrange for collection from the train station if you let me know in advance.
