About the Course

Forage for local, seasonal dye plants for the vat along with beautiful shaped and textured flora for eco-printing on to paper and fabric.

Eco-printing is a wonderful technique that records the unique signature of a leaf or flower creating a lasting record of a time and place.

During this one day event you will eco-print a pure silk cushion to take away with you along with additional paper samples that can be made into a book or used for collages, scrap booking etc.

If you have special flowers from a bouquet or your garden etc. that you'd like to include please bring them with you although you are advised to research varieties to ensure they are safe to use beforehand.

About The Wild Dyery...
The Wild Dyery is a textile design and training company founded by natural dyer and teacher, Justine Aldersey-Williams. We pattern ethically sourced cloth by hand at our studio in Hoylake, Wirral, England, using traditional resist techniques including shibori, block printing and screen printing. Our textiles are then dyed using flowers, bark, roots and leaves, imbuing the fabric with resonant colour and an ethical provenance. We create a range of home textiles, ‘dye it yourself’ kits and accessories which sell online, at craft events and through retailers. Our products, workshops and e courses aim to help preserve this heritage craft whilst promoting sustainable eco-textiles. We also showcase the work of other artists and makers using heritage, sustainable or upcycled materials and offer a variety of guest workshops in natural crafts.

About Your Teacher...
Justine Aldersey-Williams is the designer, maker and owner of The Wild Dyery. She hand-dyes all items and teaches both live and online courses in sustainable fabric dyeing techniques. Justine qualified as a teacher in 1998 and has since taught extensively to schools, universities and crafts groups. She completed an MA in 2013 and has exhibited her work at New Designers, Indigo Paris and Rio. She lives on the Wirral peninsula in England with her husband and two teenage children and is also a yoga teacher.
