This is a full day workshop exploring the beautiful art of Mountmellick embroidery. Originating in Ireland, the embroidery is inspired by nature with the stitches worked in white thread on a white fabric. The beauty comes from the contrast between thread and fabric.
This workshop begins by teaching you the traditional stitches used in Mountmellick embroidery with the morning set aside to not only learn how to create the stitches but also to create a set of samples to refer back to and inspire future work.
The afternoon gives time to create your own larger piece of Mountmellick embroidery, using one of our designs or one of yours - either is fine. You'll also learn how to transfer designs to fabric. Your embroidered work could be framed, turned into a cushion or bag front and so much more.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and the more accomplished embroiderer alike.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials are included. If you have a nature themed image you would like to use as inspiration for your embroidery please feel free to bring it with you, though this isn't necessary.
The workshop runs from 10-3 with a break for lunch. Refreshments are included, however you will need to bring your own lunch or buy one from the many cafes and takeaways close by.
