Your day with Keeley is a single day workshop to master the basics of Mosaics. 9.30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
You will begin by learning about the two principal techniques most commonly used during the mosaic process; the in-direct technique and the direct technique.
You will progress to making an item of your choice - either using colourful and vibrant glass mosaic tiles to create a lively design, or alternatively broken china crocks for the traditional 'shabby chic' look. This is also a perfect way to use use up some of your older style crockery that cannot be discarded for sentimental reasons but is rarely or never used.
Your mosaics will be suitable for indoor and outdoor use (subject to technique chosen).
Keeley will bring with her several shaped bases in circles, hearts , squares and rectangles
and if you wish to bring something to work on i.e. a small table this shouldn't be a problem,
though please check first with us.
Assembling small pieces of glass, ceramics or stone to create patterns for items and surfaces has been popular throughout civilisation. It is, after all, a perfect form of recycling and a real pleasure and satisfaction can be taken from transforming something that's hard to throw away but in its present form can no longer be used. Creating new ceramic pieces from your old china and transforming it into something new and lovely, can be rewarding, absorbing and creative.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. The voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.
