About the Course
The course will take place in Historic Higherford Mill, Barrowford. A hub of creativity housing lots of different Artists. I aim to provide an inspiring and uplifting workshop with fuel for ideas taken from the large range of mosaic tesserae provided. Ideal for total beginners or the more experienced.
This course will run on demand for two or more, so if you have a friend you would like to do the course with please get in touch.
The area has lovely countryside and encompasses brooding Pendle Hill which was heavily involved in the witch hunt trials of the 17th century. A fascinating area to explore with a visitor centre down the road at the Pendle Heritage Centre.
We aim to have a individually creative day, everyone will be encouraged to develop their own design. Inspiration can be drawn from items brought on the day, looking through the mosaic books, or developing an existing idea.
We will spend the day designing and sticking various tesserae to the board. Along the way learning about techniques and materials, different potential projects and how to cut and shape the tiles safely and tools needed.
I have been running mosaic workshops for over ten years, have a teaching qualification and have worked for Cartmel Adult Education as a mosaic tutor. Until recently I have sold my mosaics on Not on The High Street.
Please contact me for any further information you feel you may need about this workshop.

Very nice relaxed day. All materials supplied and books to look through for ideas. Teaching was very thorough and we all left with a completed mosaic and instructions on how to grout it once it had dried thoroughly.5

I took a mosaic course on Saturday and was very impressed with Catherine our teacher, as a complete beginner I wasn't sure what to expect but was soon put at ease, Catherine had lots of idea's and lots of patience.
I made a sunflower amazingly it turned out ok, I am definately inspired to do more mosaic work and wished I lived nearer to Nelson and Catherine classes..
Having come all the way from Cumbria and not finding a class nearer to home, it was worth the drive.
Thank you very much for a really enjoyable day.

A very enjoyable day. Loved the hands on teaching and getting as messy as you like without having to worry about the furniture, which is the only way if you learn from a book! Learnt a lot about the different mosaic techniques and being able to experiment to find your own preferences is a definite advantage of doing the course. Catherine is very talented and knows her art inside out, plus a very nice lady. She made the class warm and friendly.

I would highly recommend Catherine's 1day mosaic workshop. Catherine was wonderful, creative & extremely knowledgeable. This workshop exceeded my expectations. I now feel that I have the knowledge needed to begin to create my own mosaics at home. I particularly enjoyed working with the vast array of materials that Catherine supplied on the workshop. A truly fabulous creative day!
