Description:

An introductory mosaic class that will be taught using glass and ceramic tiles. Within the 2 hour class you will be taught how to cut and place your tiles and will be given direction and resources to best support you in the design and layout of your mosaic. There's nothing quite like a beautifully handmade piece of art for your home or garden. Come make your own and enjoy your work of art for many years to come!

I provide a selection of bases to work on and you can choose which you would like to mosaic. There will be flat boards for indoor and out plus small terracotta pots, frames and vases. If there is something specific that you would like to do please let me know and I will try accommodate. As the sessions are just 2 hours long, it's an introduction to mosaicing and will show you the basics for getting started with the option to buy grout to complete at home should you want to. Some people come for one session, others comes every month and develop their skill and technique as they go along.

Some tips: Come with an idea of what you would like to mosaic and what design you would like to create so you have optimum time for mosaicing. Audrey will of course provide templates and offer assistance with drawing out your design, should you need support. It's a short workshop, so think about the size and consider the practicalities of getting it complete. Often, simple designs are the most effective, especially when you're new to mosaic work. It's always great to be able to complete on the day and have that sense of accomplishment! However, if you don't complete, Audrey will provide you with the additional tiles to take home for you to complete at a later stage.

Audrey will provide guidance on how to complete your mosaic at home and she'll be available to discuss via email any questions or support needs that you may have.

Audrey has been working as a Community Artist for the past 16 years after studying Illustration and Community Arts at university in Glasgow.

What's included in the price?

All tiles (tesserae) and bases (substrates) are provided. Should you not complete your mosaic, you can take away the necessary tiles to enable you to complete your mosaic at home. If there is specific mosaic tiles that you would like to include, please do bring these with you. Grout is available to purchase should you wish to do so. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in the price.

I attended the Mosaic making workshop on Friday 12th May. I have never attended a craft workshop before and can say that I was quite nervous. Audrey soon put me at ease as she was very welcoming, helpful and informative. There was a large range of items to make and plenty of tiles, beads etc to choose from. I found the workshop to be informal, relaxed and very friendly. I would certainly recommend Montet Designs to others and it was very good value for money. I had a fabulous time, thank you.

I recently attended one of Audrey's mosaic workshops with my Mum. It was a present to her for Mother's Day and something creative and fun we could do together. I cannot recommend the workshop enough. It was great fun and we were amazed at what we accomplished in the time under Audrey's tutorage, especially given neither of us had done anything like this before.

Audrey talks you through the process and guides and helps you along the way. She has such a lovely calm and encouraging manner and the atmosphere in the workshop was lovely.

I would definitely recommend it and I will almost certainly look to do another one in the future.

My friend and I attended Audrey's mosaic workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. Neither of us had ever done anything like this before, but found Audrey and her mum Morag extremely helpful and encouraging. The location was excellent for us and both left saying we would definitely like to do it again.

Really enjoyed learning how to make a mosaic in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Audrey was very supportive and encouraging and very happy to offer help and advice as we all went along. She has a real gift for encouraging others whilst also celebrating peoples individual styles and nurturing these.

A relaxed and enjoyable workshop. Audrey and her mum are very welcoming and give all the guidance you need. There is a great range of tiles and bases to choose from and examples of their work to inspire you. Tea and biscuits too! I am looking forward to finishing my house number at home, knowing that I can contact Audrey for advice if need be. Thoroughly recommend.

Had a lovely birthday morning . There was an excellent selection of tiles and masaics to make and Audrey was really helpful and encouraging. Quick stroll to the Waffle House afterwards for lunch, perfect!

I had such a lovely time at this workshop. Audrey is extremely welcoming and on hand for any queries that I had. She's very knowledgeable about mosaic art and will direct you when you're not quite sure where to go next. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do when I first arrived but I'm so happy with what I came away with. There was such a wide range of tiles to choose from, it was like being in a sweetie shop, I loved it and will definitely be back!

Fantastic class. So nice to have the opportunity to relax and get creative. Audrey is always on hand with advice and tips if needed. Everyone works at their own pace so no pressure trying to keep up.

This is a lovely workshop to attend. It's friendly with a great atmosphere and Audrey will guide you through the process as you explore the materials and create your piece of art. There is a wide choice of tiles to choose from and you really can go for it! I've been a few times now and I love how I can come along and do whatever ever design I feel like doing and have the freedom to do it. Great value for money and I'd definitely recommend it, come have a go.

I had never done any mosaic before, but I really enjoyed this half day course and felt it was very good value. Tea, coffee and materials in plentiful supply and Audrey is on hand to give advice and explain techniques if needed. Many people there had obviously done it before, so she does not necessarily 'teach' everyone, but is on hand for newbies to get you started. I will definitely come again!

-

A rare opportunity for me to get creative which I very much enjoyed. Audrey brings lots of examples and a great choice of quality materials to inspire. She provides everything you need to explore this medium in whichever way you choose, as well being an invaluable source of friendly and knowledgeable "mosaicing" advice to help you make the most of the session. It was relaxed, friendly, inspiring and a really lovely way to enjoy a morning doing something arty and unique. I am very pleased with my mosaic creation and I'll definitely be back for more ... Thank you.

I greatly enjoyed this workshop and it was great value for money. It was my first attempt at mosaics and Audrey went out of her way to make it as easy and productive as possible in the 2 hour session. I very much look forward to the next workshop, and would definitely recommend Audrey's classes to anyone who's considering giving mosaics a go!

-

Great fun. I don't make enough time for crafty activities, so it's great to start and finish something in a session. Great selection of tiles to chose from, lots of design ideas - but freedom to work on your own concepts or incorporate your own materials during the session. Always seem to be a very friendly group and lots of guidance is available from Audrey. Lovely relaxing, focussed morning (with tea and biscuits!).

-

I brought my sister as a treat. We had a lovely stress-free morning. Audrey supplies a beautiful range of mosaics and ideas, and she is very encouraging. Excellent!

-

I had such a great time at the mosaic workshop. It was so nice to have a few hours just for myself and to get creative. I never take time out of my day to do a craft activity but coming on the workshop has inspired me to do it more often. Was really nice to meet new people and chat about a whole host of things whilst also learning about mosaic. I've never done anything like this before but will definitely be doing more. It was great value for money too and Audrey was a great tutor, thank you!

-

This workshop is 2 hours of creativity and de-stressing. The class is very relaxed, fun and friendly. Audrey is very organised, knowledgeable and has a good range of ideas and tiles to choose from. Audrey is happy to answer any questions you have and give support and help if needed.
I am absolutely amazed and delighted with what I have managed to create, so much so that I have already booked for the next three workshops.

-

The workshop was really enjoyable. There was a great selection of tiles and examples of what we could create. Audrey the tutor took time to explain how to snip the tiles and supported throughout. The venue and refreshments were great and it was lovely to be right beside the Verulamium Park and The Waffle House for lunch afterwards. I was really pleased with what I created. I'll definitely be signing up for more sesssions.
