About the Course
We will have a fun day using mosaic to cover plants pots and is suitable for beginners. With a great choice of recycled tesserae and lots of ideas for designs available, you can create some great works of art to take home. You will learn about mosaic techniques, materials, safety, identifying future projects and the design process.
The workshop will take place in Historic Higherford Mill, Barrowford, an old water weaving mill now housing creatives. The workshop is intended for you to pick up the basics about mosaic and have the confidence to continue further projects of your own later.
Please check out the link to my facebook page to check for further dates and information.
You should have time to make 2/3 mosaic pots and you will be given instructions and a bag of grout to take home with you to finish later. please bring notebook and pen.
It will be a relaxed day with support given to the creative process throughout although I do encourage your own input and ideas for projects. There is books available on the day to inspire design ideas and tea and coffee refreshments will be provided throughout.
I ask that your bring some packed lunch as we will be having a short break for this. Please bring an apron and be aware the old mill can sometimes be a little chilly despite heating, so no t shirts.
I encourage everyone to have a look around and bring any bits and pieces that you may wish to add to your artwork, beads , old china, shells, jewellery, etc. Although a good selection of materials will be provided.
As you will need to carry your pieces home safely afterwards, can you bring a basket or a firm box to place them in and a piece of cloth to secure them from moving about..
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All tools and materials will be provided on the day, drinks will be provided, just bring a packed lunch. There is a Booths in the village if you want to pick something up on the way.
Wish I'd picked a more simple design, but I learned a lot in this workshop.

A thoroughly enjoyable day with a mosaic plant pot nearly finished at the end of it. Luckily you get a goody bag to take home to finish it off. Catherine's advice, tips and help was spot on.

Response from More Mosaics:It was great to have you, and you have done a wonderful job with the grouting!
What a great way to spend a day. Our host, Catherine was patient and encouraging in equal measure, she allowed us to explore our ideas and helped develop them into wonderful finished items that at the start of the day I would not have thought I was capable of producing.
I would recommend to anybody of any age or skill level, experience is not required. Interesting topical chat and plenty of tea on tap all held in a wonderful old mill.

Very enjoyable day ..where did the time go ? We got totally absorbed in the creative process. Catherine is a very artistic lady and enabled me , a talentless individual, to create some spectacular pieces that I am very proud of .

I had a great day! Just the right balance of structure, inspiration, teaching, advice and freedom to be individual and creative. Excellent, thanks.
