About the Course

Audrey likes her classes to be set at the pace of the individual. So whether you're completely new to working in mosaic, or whether you have done it before, you will have the support and guidance required for your needs.

The day begins with refreshments and an introduction to all the materials available for you to use. This will include a wide range of glass, ceramic and stone tiles and also a selection of crockery and mixed media. A demonstration of how to use tile nippers will be given and each participant will be provided with the necessary tools for the tiles they are working with. Participants will be shown how to place and glue their tiles onto their boards and be guided throughout the day as and when they need support.

Workshops are suitable for beginners and also the more experienced mosaicist. Within the workshop you will have the option of working with glass and ceramic tiles plus the option to experiment with broken crockery and mixed media should you want to be adventurous!

Throughout the day you will be given direction and resources to best support you in the design and layout of your mosaic. There's nothing quite like a beautifully handmade piece of art for your home or garden. Come make your own and enjoy your work of art for many years to come!

Audrey provides a selection of bases to work on plus a variety of mdf cut shapes and will contact you before the workshop to discuss board sizes should you wish something outside of the standard. Standard sizes are: Square 30cm x 30cm Rectangle 40cm x 25cm Circle 28cm. If you'd like to go much larger please discuss with Audrey and she will price up the cost for the additional materials.

If there is something specific that you would like to mosaic or specialist tiles you'd like to use please do arrange to bring these items with you.

You'll be amazed how quickly the time flies by! If you don't manage to complete, you will be given all necessary tiles to take home with you. There will be a selection of grout colours to take home.

Some tips: come with an idea of what you would like to mosaic and what design you would like to create so you have optimum time for mosaicing. Often, simple designs are the most effective, especially when you're new to mosaic work. It's always great to be able to complete on the day and have that sense of accomplishment! However, if you don't complete, Audrey will provide you with the additional tiles to take home for you to complete at a later stage.

She will provide guidance on how to complete your mosaic at home and is available to discuss via email any questions or support needs that you may have.

The tutor Audrey has worked as a Community Artist for the past 17 years and specialised in mosaics 6 years ago. She teaches weekly class in schools, care homes and in the community as well as working on larger projects with a variety of Voluntary and Statutory organisations.

If you have any questions regarding the course, please contact Audrey and she will be more than happy to answer them.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

All materials necessary to complete the mosaics will be provided on the day.
A selection of teas and coffee and biscuits throughout the day plus a buffet lunch at midday.

I enjoyed the day so much. Audrey is very knowledgeable about all things mosaic and both she and her mum were very supportive and encouraging throughout the day. The range of materials available was brilliant.
I've already ordered some tools to help me finish my piece and I can't wait to get back to it. I hope I'll be doing a lot more mosaic work in the future. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!
