Leukos Art I, Merve Kurt, will introduce you to the traditional method of marbling which uses carrageenan size to float earth pigments on water. Participants will experience traditional marbled techniques and create their own marbled papers. The workshop will be taught with a mixture of demonstrations and group discussions, but will mainly involve hands-on time producing a range of beautiful patterned papers to take away. You will learn all the skills required using A4-sized trays and we will use prepared paper in a variety of colors. You will then have the time to experiment with these different marbling techniques and create some of your own fantastic pieces of marbled art. You will leave with all your lovely samples, a handout explaining how to continue your journey, and all the recipes we use to create the different marble baths. This fabulously fun and relaxing course is 2 hours long and will include Classical Music, tea, and coffee. All tools and materials included. If you wish to protect your work as you take it home please bring a folder or tube large enough to hold A4 paper. What to expect? Each participant will make at least 8 artworks. What to bring All tools and materials included. If you wish you can bring an apron. Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 6 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids and must pay for a separate ticket.

Merve Kurt is an interdisciplinary visual artist, humanitarian aid worker, and gender-based violence consultant. She exhibited the traditional marbling art of Ebru in Istanbul, England, Scotland, and Paris. She is particularly interested in the use of art in cohesion, integration, and expressing the diversity of society. She has attended several art therapy courses and implemented art healing techniques in her works since 2010.
