Learn how to make your own, sustainable and biodegradable food coverings with local artist and crafter Norlyne Rosewarne.
Beeswax food wraps are a great, sustainable alternative to plastic food coverings. On this workshop Norlyne, who hand makes and sells Bwrapz Food Wraps, will take you through the step-by-step process needed to create a set of your own.
She will demonstrate the knack of brushing the beeswax mix onto your cotton pieces, and ensuring you evenly seal the cotton before hanging your wraps up to dry.
Norlyne will share some helpful hints and tips on using your wraps to seal different food items; folding techniques; caring for your wraps; and adding string and buttons for a final decorative touch - perfect for gifting.
This taster workshop is a great way to boost your eco-credentials through using less cling film and plastic.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within Edinburgh’s City Centre Georgian New Town. We invite you to turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Spaces on our workshops are limited so that our artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.
All equipment is provided, and the materials you need to complete your project are included in the price of your workshop (unless stated otherwise).
Our buffet-style refreshment breaks are an important part of all The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and experiences. They are a time to socialise, make new friends and chat to the artists and makers. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby, and feature locally sourced food and drinks wherever possible. A wide range of dietary requirements can be catered for.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Due to COVID-19, we have had to adapt the way we run our workshops and there may be some changes to the way it is delivered.
