About the Course
This friendly, relaxed, workshop takes place in a peaceful studio in the Kingsgate Workshops Trust building. This clay session can be treated as a one off taster or as a creative afternoon that you can repeat. Its a great way to get away from the busy world outside for a few hours. This session can be treated as a one off or something you can repeat.
By the end of this session you will have made and decorated a usable bowl (that is dishwasher proof) using the pinching and coiling method. You will be guided through the making and decorating process joining and pinching out ropes of soft clay then paring your bowl to obtain a satisfying curve.
You will then decorate your bowl with ceramic slips and oxides with your personal design.
There is guidance each step along the way with demonstrations of techniques and explanations of what comes next and why. Your bowl can be inscribed with a message and or a date and a name. A decorated bowl is an excellent celebratory gift to give to a friend or a relative, or you can use it yourself !
When you have made your bowl will be biscuit fired, then glazed and fired again on your behalf. Finished work can be posted or collected.

Its' a great experience: Josie is very knowledgeable, and makes it a pleasurable and rewarding experience. It was laid back but at the end of the afternoon all of us had produced a wonderful decorated bowl, in the interesting environment of her studio.
