About the Course

Often called the Welsh Potato basket; it is part of the Celtic frame basket tradition. This is a very satisfying basket to make. It is a deep, strong and flat based; traditionally used on the farm for vegetable collection, animal feed or in the farmhouse for laundry. Your handmade basket will last for decades of use in your home and garden.

It requires a set of ribs prepared on a ‘D’ shaped forma and a round hoop. You will learn how to prepare the ribs and hoop on a shaving horse as well as how to construct and weave the basket. We will use barked willow. In the workshop you will practice all the techniques to finish your basket; it is likely you will have a few hours home work to finish it.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
