Suitable for complete beginners and well as students looking to expand their skills, this workshop makes an ideal introduction to ring making as well as using found objects in jewellery making. Following feedback from our previous workshops we have now extended this class to a two day workshop where you will have more time to develop the skills needed to make your own beautiful, bespoke sea glass ring.
During the workshop you will select a piece of found sea glass and learn how to incorporate it into a unique Sterling silver ring. You are encouraged to bring your own pieces of sea glass if you have them. This workshop is an ideal introduction to ring making and an opportunity to learn jewellery techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and stone setting.
The day will begin with a demonstration of how to make a basic ring out of wire. Different textures and finishes can be applied to allow each student to create an individually designed ring. Students will practice this technique before moving on to create a bezel setting for their sea glass. Students will also be shown how to safely drill holes in sea glass allowing them to be used as beads or made into pendants.
Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
