About the Course
Suitable for everyone from complete beginners to more experienced woodworkers, our three hour course will guide you through the process of making your own cheese board, chopping board or serving platter using the finest quality, furniture grade Ash hardwood. You will be able to choose from a range of templates and upgrade your material to Oak or Walnut if you wish.
Starting with your chosen template and block of wood, you will learn how to transform it into a truly beautiful and food safe cheese board.
You will begin the evening by marking out your wood before heading to the bandsaw to trim off the excess in preparation for the final cut. Once that’s done, you will learn how to use a router to achieve the desired shape with a lovely crisp finish.
And that’s not all. You will also learn how to expertly sand and apply a natural, food-safe finish to ensure your cheese board will be ready to adorn the table at even the most sophisticated cheese night!
You will finish the evening relaxed and very proud of yourself with a potential new hobby that you’re sure to love as much as we do. Now that’s better than a night in front of the box, surely?
We are extremely proud of the Ash & Co workshop and offer a safe and friendly environment that welcomes all ages and genders to share in our passion for making.
This course runs from 6:30pm to approximately 9:30pm.
Our workshop is in Crondall, just off the A287 on the Hampshire/Surrey border.
Choice of wood:
As standard, we supply solid English Ash with every course. This is a lovely wood to work with, is quite light in colour with beautiful grain patterns and looks great when finished.
If you prefer you can upgrade to Prime Oak for an extra £10 which has a richer colour and wonderful grain texture.
If you really want to push the boat out, you can opt for American Black Walnut for £20 which really is the cream of the crop and makes beautiful tableware.
