About the Course

A really exciting new course for 2019 suggested and created by Dave Norman, the much respected tutor of our very popular Raku firing pottery workshops that have taken place here over the last 3 years. We're really looking forward to this class.

Make your own traditional stoneware clay Green Man to watch over your garden , in your own style and with your own embellishments with the careful guidance of Dave Norman, lifelong ceramicist, teacher and lecturer
in all things 'clay'

This day is suitable for beginners, i.e those with no experience of pottery.

Dave Studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and then ran his own studio in Scotland, producing large architectural ceramics for several years.

After 14 years teaching ceramics in tertiary education he established a new studio in North Cumbria producing thrown slip decorated wares, which are sold locally in galleries.
There will be a £20 materials cost payable to the tutor on the day which will include the clay and the firing cost. We will notify you when your piece has been returned to Quirky Workshops and is ready for collection.

Alternatively Dave could post the piece directly to you for a reasonable extra charge.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Welcome drinks : fresh coffee & home made biscuits, a lovely 2 course Aga lunch served in our farmhouse kitchen or outside in the Greystoke Cycle Cafe Tea Garden as soon as it's warm enough. To finish off the day, a freshly made Cream Tea (including Aga-baked scones, cream and jam).

Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.

We have been hosting and organising 'Quirky Workshops' since 2005 from our friendly family run Cycle Cafe Tea Garden on the northern fringes of the Lake District. All our tutors are carefully hand selected experts and professionals and many considered as leading nationally in their field.

There may be a small charge for materials.
