About the Course
Love putting different colours and textures together? Create a collection of handmade fresco-inspired beads from which to make and take home a unique necklace, perhaps a bracelet too. This workshop will seek to recreate that ancient long lost treasure effect which is so appealing. Bring old egg boxes, a sieve and medium sized saucepan, plus any beads you might like to include.
The process is straightforward and easy to recreate in your own kitchen.
Suitable for all abilities.
I obtained a BA in Textile design from Central St Martins, and was taught by Cecil Collins and Edward Bawden. After attending a Summer School at Bleddfa led by Hazel Bradley and Michael Harvey, I was inspired with storytelling, particularly ancient myth, and now regularly tell stories to elderly patients in a hospital, often accompanied with illustrations.
My work has been accepted at the Royal Academy London, Royal West of England Academy, New Grafton Gallery, Alexander Llewellyn Gallery, and is to be found in numerous private collections.
I am currently Artist in Residence at University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, and a member of the Association of Midland Artists, and Leamington Studio Artists. I am also part of Warwickshire Open Studios.

Eleanor was an excellent host and so knowledgeable and enthusiastic with the art of making necklaces. I could not believe that I would also be able to make ancient looking beads and make my own necklace. But with Eleanor's guidance I managed to produce a lovely piece of jewellry to be proud of.

Fantastic step by step processes to create something out of nothing. I have no craft experience whatsoever but this is presented by Eleanor so well that this is something everyone can do. Lots of hidden shortcuts to produce a beautiful handmade bead necklace and bracelet.

An absolutely fabulous workshop. I loved Eleanor's beads when I saw them at Open Studios, and it was amazing to be able to try out techniques and go away with a lovely necklace. Very therapeutic! Thankyou Eleanor

I had a very pleasant day doing this workshop. Everything was very well explained and prepared for us. Eleanor gave clear easy instruction and I left feeling confident that I would be able to make these beautiful beads at home. Everything used is easy to get hold of and not expensive. Thoroughly recommend.

A short note to say how much I enjoyed today's workshop. Please book me in for the next one. The Bead making, the soup, the pudding, the laughter, and the fun made it a great day

I should like to thank you profusely for the wonderful day you gave us on 13th November. We all had the most fantastic time and felt that we had achieved a fantastic amount. Ann has warn her necklace everyday since and it looks beautiful.

Thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing and well tutored. It is a course most people could continue do at home as the materials are inexpensive. If a course is good the end result reflect this fact and all those on the course made successful necklaces. I would recommend this course to all who enjoy jewellery making.

Lovely paint colours
Good bead selection
Useful to have plenty of examples to look at for inspiration

The method of bead-making was explained clearly with a good demonstration of the technique, and we were able to try bead preparation ourselves. The ingredients used are not expensive or difficult to get hold of, and so I felt that I would be happy to try the technique again in the future. The fun part was the decoration of the beads, which used not just paints but tissue paper. This also was clearly demonstrated, so that despite being a novice in handicrafts I was able to decorate enough beads to a high enough standard that I am happy to wear the resulting necklace. Another benefit of being part of a group was getting inspiration from others and being encouraged to try new and unusual combinations. I thoroughly enjoyed the day.
