Macrame mandala workshop in the Lake District

Macrame mandala

This is a workshop suitable for beginners to learn and practice the ancient art of macramé to create a beautiful handmade piece of fibre art to take away and cherish.

Dating back thousands of years to the 13th Century, macramé has Arabic origins with the term ‘migramah’ meaning ‘fringe’ in modern days. Popularized in recent years, the art of macramé was abundant in the 1970’s Bohemian look, and prominent in décor such as lamp shades, plant hangers and table cloths as well as being fashionable for belts, bags and outerwear.

In more contemporary times macramé has once again been rejuvenated and is often associated with self care, health, wellbeing and meditative practice.

Learn the basic skills of knotting to create decorative knots and patterns using a range of premium organic cords to create your very own mandala and a few other surprises too!

Your tutor, Kelly practices macramé as a means of relaxation and to bring more balance into her life through creativity and self expression.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
