About the Course
This is a great one day oil painting course for artists that feel their painting is too tight and over rendered and want to their work to appear looser and more painterly.
Mark will demonstrate and guide you through his simple structured approach to painting wet-on-wet or 'Alla prima’.
The workshop will begin with a brief introduction and demonstration, followed by basic colour theory, colour mixing with oils and exploring different brush techniques.
High quality photographic reference will be provided to work from over both days.
The aim will be to complete a painting a day , whether it be a plein air landscape, portrait or still life.
This workshop is aimed at all skill levels.
What to bring
A pre primed and grounded canvas or gesso primed panel.
A selection of short flat hog paint brushes in a range of sizes from 2 - 12, also a small round brushes size 1 or 2. Brushes must be suitable for oil painting and not water colour/sable brushes.
Palette knifes Winsor and newton sizes 20 and 22 or similar.
Zest it low odour thinners or similar and linseed oil or Liquid original and a dipper pot.
Good size flat mixing palette.
Oil colours as follows - titanium white, naples yellow, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre
cadmium red, alizarine crimson, burnt sienna, french ultramarine.
A jar and low odour white spirit, cloths or tissues to clean brushes.
Apart from canvases or boards, a jar for low odour thinners and cloths or tissues to clean brushes.
