If you are new to linocut printmaking this workshop will get you started and confident to do more. During this whole day workshop Charlotte will guide you through the basics of relief printmaking and you will create your own 15 x 20cm three block linoprint.
The course will cover -
- how to use and create different marks with the tools
- how to register the paper
- how to transfer your design to multiple blocks
- how to print your design using a press as well as a wooden spoon.
Your focus will be the theme of seascapes so please bring any of your own photographs/sketches to use for inspiration. There will be a stock of images if you aren't able to bring your own.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Your course fee includes 4 sheets of lino. You will practice/experiment with mark making on the ‘spare’ sheet. Further sheets can be purchased directly from the tutor on the day.
At the end of the day you may well find yourself hooked on this process so you will have the opportunity to purchase a set of carving tools and extra lino blocks.
IMPORTANT!
You will be working with ink that may stain so please be sure to bring some sort of garment/pinny to protect your clothes.
You will be handling very sharp cutting tools to cut the lino so all participants must be over the age of 16.
Our teaching space is on the first floor and accessed via a flight of stairs. Delicious refreshments made with locally sourced ingredients are available from our ground floor cafe.
