Make Space workshops are in person relaxed classes to help you rediscover the simple joys of creative play. Make this Christmas
a handmade Christmas and create your own decorations and cards using linocut in a guided and relaxing workshop, suitable for all abilities.
Folk art and festive botanical designs are well suited to linoprint; you can use templates provided in class or be inspired by natural materials that I'll bring along. Spend the morning learning the linocutting and printing technique using simple tools, to produce some original and unique prints on squares of bunting, gift tags and cards: use what you make to decorate your home, send to friends or give away as gifts.
Come and learn how easy it is to produce beautiful handmade linocuts, and enjoy a morning away from your usual routine. The class is suitable for beginners, or as I can tailor the class according to each students needs and experience, is equally suited to improvers and experts. Once you are all settled down with a complimentary botanical drink, I will guide you through how to transfer your own design (or if you prefer one taken from a template) onto the lino; I will then show you step by step how to carve the design, how to ink the block, and finally how to print it using printmaking equipment. You will end up with a wonderful selection of festive art.
The workshop takes place in the large and atmospheric barn at the renowned Hitchin Lavender Farm. Each printmaker will have their own sanitised tools for personal use only, you’ll all have your own socially distanced work space and will wear masks- the barn is very well ventilated so every care will be taken to ensure our safety.
The workshop takes place from 10-12.30.
Use this time to relax and find your flow in a very non pressured environment, with space to explore new materials and rediscover the beauty and joy in creative art. Making has a meditative effect, and being absorbed in a hands on activity is so good for the soul.
