About the Course
This course is designed for those who are looking to develop their drawing skills. It will provide ample opportunity for those who wish to portray the human body in various forms and styles. The aim is to give you the skills and ambition needed to take further your figurative art and to produce work suitable for public display.
The sessions will cover drawing techniques, along with those of painting, depending on your choice. To encourage artistic advance and give more time to complete artwork, life-models will be asked to maintain poses for successive weeks. You will be guided in developing the particular style most suited to you.
About the tutor
Tanya Kozin is a figurative painter and sculptor working from life in a variety of media.
Her portraits aim to capture both the outward beauty and the inner life of the models, their thoughts and feelings. Her early background in art, being brought up in Russia as the daughter of two professional artists, gives her an appreciation of traditional skills in art. Tanya’s first degree is in Fine Art from Gorky Art College in Russia. Subsequently, after moving to England, she studied Art and Design in Coventry; and then gained an MA in Fine Art from Birmingham City University. In 2010, she became a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
Tanya now lives and works in the West Midlands. Until 2007 she worked in graphic design and, after graduating from BCU, has taught at Warwick and Coventry Universities. In addition to her own art practice, she is currently tutoring classes in Painting and Sculpture from life.
She has on occasion been invited to run a number of workshops in Sculpture and Painting for The Herbert (Gallery and Museum), Coventry; for Coventry Arts Consortium; and for Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists.
Tanya is keen to pass on her skills to younger generations and has been teaching life drawing to 6th form pupils for several years in partnership with Bablake School, Coventry.
In 2016 at the invitation of Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering she gave two international master classes in Portrait sculpture to Russian students from the Architecture and Design faculties in what was her former hometown.

is it possible to attend your class as a one off to be able to study a real life model? My son is 16, an avid artist with a very unique style - this would be a great opportunity to draw a still life.
