Wednesday mornings. Week 1-3: Drawing Techniques The first three weeks of your art class we will cover the basic elements, where you will learn the importance of mark making, shading and depth in drawing. This is a great way to start! Week 4: Chalk and Oil Pastels We start to introduce colour and will show you how colours are mixed on the paper, and how overlaying and blending various colours helps to create texture. Week 5: Mixed Media Mixed media is basically using anything you have to hand. Save all your cardboard, envelopes, scraps of paper, textile pieces, old books and magazines, these can all be used in mixed media. Week 6-8: Watercolours The next two weeks we play with watercolour. We’ll look at the materials, tools and techniques needed to paint with watercolour, such as wet on dry, wet on wet, dry on wet, the use of additives. You will learn paper preparation and how to mix different pigments on your palette. Week 9-11: Acrylics A very popular medium due to its versatility and ability to create many different styles of art. The richness in colour when applied with both brushes and a palette knife is amazing! Week 12: Producing a final piece in your chosen media, and finishing off any other work.
