About the Course
Not sure how to use a sewing machine? Need a refresher? In this three hour session learn how to use a sewing machine and go home having made a cushion cover.
After this workshop you will be able to learn how to set up the machine and how to create different stitches. This workshop is aimed at complete beginners and will be taught in a maximum group size of six for optimum 1 - 1 time.
Your tutor will be Clare Walsh. Clare has always had a love of Textiles, dressmaking, felt making, silk paper making and printed textiles are particular interests and a passion for colour and texture inspire her work. Recent trips to India and a growing collection of old printing blocks havebeen at the centre ofblock printing workshops, but the use of the heat press add a new dimension to her printed textile work. Clare has exhibited her Textile work within Art Societies and galleries in the UK and shared her enthusiasm for Textiles as a teacher to all age groups for many years.
You can turn any of our courses into a short break by staying in our on site accommodation. When you book a residential package you will get discounted accommodation in our stylish boutique hostel located in the centre of Cirencester right next door to New Brewery Arts. Our former 19th Century Cotswold stone brewery barrel store has been beautifully transformed into 21st century accommodation, light and well-appointed with a craftsman’s attention to detail. We offer guest accommodation for up to 43 people over two floors in 14 rooms, with a choice of single, bunk, family and double bedrooms, 12 with en-suite facilities. A ground floor disabled-friendly room is also available. The hostel provides a stylish communal dining and relaxation area, self-catering kitchen, laundry facilities and lockers for your bike. As with all our courses and workshops these are led by experienced tutors and as you will be part of a small group there is plenty of time to focus on you.
