About the Course
In this absolute Beginners (or those needing a refresher) course you'll learn how to sew to use a sewing machine, then make a simple cushion cover to practise your stitching techniques & then a purse to practise zips and darts
Alternatively, you can cover the same course content in 3 x weekly Stitch Classes.
Week 1: Threading up the machine and bobbin, different stitches, adjusting tension, changing a needle and presser foot, starting to cut out your cushion cover and how to use patterns, pin, cut out.
Week 2: Laying up pattern, cutting out & sewing your cushion cover and practising stitch types as you go.
Week 3: Finishing cushion & making your zipped darted purse PLUS if you finish early have a go at button holes or applique.

What's included in the price?
Learn to sew on Sew In Brighton sewing school's beginners sewing machine course run over three sessions.
We provide: sewing machine (or bring your own if you prefer), scissors, pins, chalk, tape measure etc if you don’t have your own.
What to bring:
a cushion to cover or a new cushion pad (up to 20" square in size). We have 16" sq pads in stock (high quality microfibre filled) for £4 - bring cash if you would like to buy one
a length of non-stretch medium weight fabric (eg printed cotton) any width from 44" upwards:
a 16" cushion need half a metre
an 18" cushion need one metre
a 20" cushion need 1.6 metre
a reel of matching thread
a 6” closed end 'normal' zip
