About the Course

Ideally you should have done some blacksmithing/bladesmithing before and you will need a lot of stamina and have some idea of the process involved. Suitable for ages 21+.

For the first 1.5 days you will make a small knife to get used to using the tools and learning the basic techniques needed. The third to fifth day will be forging the sword, making a wooden hilt and a metal cross guard - this is for single or double edged sword. This is why it is a 5 day course.

You will learn to make a rustic style sword using carbon steel which can be either single or double edged. This will be handforged for the bevels, you will use the air hammer to draw it out and will be using a propane gas forge. The overall size of the sword will be 28 inches from pommel to tip. Each day lasts 6 hours. 10am- 4pm.

By Law this is considered a lethal weapon so you will not be leaving the Forge with a sharpened sword and I am not responsible for any changes made to the sword once it leaves my premises or any actions of use after leaving my premises.

This course is run from my home forge which is outside under an all-weather gazebo. Some of the work is also carried out in a utility room/workshop.

Bring plenty of drinks as it will be very hot working.

Please get in touch for details and bookings.

This is a 1 to one course over 18s only & £300 non-refundable deposit is required to book your place with the rest payable on the first day. No places will be booked without payment being made on the day of booking.
